Being playful helps change our attitude and experience joy

Playtime is Not Just for Kids

Being an adult can sometimes feel like a never-ending cycle of work, bills, and responsibilities. These responsibilities can bore us, make us frustrated with our life, and put us in a sour mood. But who says we can’t have a little fun in between? It’s time to embrace our inner child and get playful outside! Here are some fun activities that will make you feel like a kid again while enjoying the spring weather:

Chalk Art: Remember when you would draw on the pavement with colorful chalk? Well, you can still do that as an adult! Grab some chalk and create fun art on your driveway or sidewalk. Bonus points if you make a hopscotch game!

Hula-Hoops: Hula-Hoops aren’t just for kids! They’re a great way to get some exercise and have fun at the same time. Challenge yourself to see how long you can keep the hoop going, or try some fun tricks.

Hopscotch: Speaking of hopscotch, why not play a game or two? Grab some sidewalk chalk and draw a hopscotch board. Then, see how well you can jump from square to square without stepping on the lines.

Board Games: Board games are a classic way to have fun with friends and family. Play some favorite games like Monopoly, Scrabble, or Settlers of Catan.

Reading: Reading is not only a great way to escape reality, but it’s also a fun activity! Grab a book that you’ve wanted to read and spend some time getting lost in the pages.

Painting: Channel your inner Picasso and get creative with some paint. You don’t have to be an expert to have fun with painting. Grab some canvases, brushes, and paint and let your imagination run wild.

Research has shown that playtime is just as important for adults as it is for children, so don’t complicate adulthood. Use little imagination and a willingness to have fun. So try some of these activities – you might find that they bring a little more joy into your life!
