A big fall can make someone be forced into transition

Transitions Happen

One year ago, my husband and I made a big announcement. He posted on Facebook and told the world, “We are calling it quits.” A transition was going to happen in the Kutnick home.

Most people felt confused because they knew how much we loved each other.

He just didn’t finish the sentence.

We both called it quits with our jobs and set out to explore this big blue marble.

I realized my career had taken over my identity, and my values were slipping away.

He felt his job no longer aligned with his values. The toxic work environment made everything feel wrong.

Thankfully, his state job allowed him to start drawing his pension, which secured lifetime medical insurance.

We knew that a transition was needed for us and we were ready to make it happen.

Lessons Learned From the Trip:

The trip was amazing and I learned a lot about myself.

☑️Although I am an extrovert, I need alone time also.

☑️I get energy from connecting with new people.

☑️I need an anchor that pulls me back to ‘my place.’

☑️ I love laughing with my husband.

Returning Back Home Suddenly to New Transition

While in Switzerland, I fell and broke my ankle in three places and had to return home.

I went from walking 15000-20000 steps a day to being stuck on a couch for three months.

Another transition happened to me.

What’s Next

Now that I am home, I am not sure what is next for me.

Do I return to nonprofit work, find a new income stream, or step back to focus on family and play?

This choice feels hard because my identity has always revolved around my career.

Transitions happen every day, but they are never easy. my fall in Switzerland is what I needed—I’m ready and excited for what’s next.
